  • Feminine, vivid, and richly symbolic — inspired by Elizabeth I, the Virgin Queen

Named after Elizabeth I, this collection draws inspiration from the portraits, decorative arts and jewels of her golden age, including the extraordinary pieces of the Cheapside Hoard. An era full of rich colour, floral motifs and hidden symbolism, each piece takes those ideas and makes them wearable today with vibrant gemstones, luminous rose-cut diamonds and roses blooming throughout.

  •  Who was Elizabeth I?

Elizabeth I (1533–1603), the Virgin Queen, ruled England alone for 45 years at a time when few believed a woman could. Rather than diminish her femininity to be taken seriously, she made it her greatest weapon, crafting an image so deliberate, so carefully considered, and so powerful, that it defined an entire golden age. Known as Gloriana, she spoke six languages, inspired a flowering of art and culture, and understood that every detail of how she was seen said something specific about who she was and what she stood for. The Elizabeth Collection captures her enduring legacy: feminine, beautiful, and undeniably powerful.

    What is the Cheapside Hoard?

In June 1912, workmen digging in a cellar near St Paul's Cathedral unearthed almost 500 jewels and gemstones, hidden and untouched for three centuries. They were most likely buried by a London jeweller fleeing plague or the civil war, and never reclaimed. What they left behind is an extraordinary window into Elizabethan and Jacobean jewellery-making: ancient cameos, carved perfume bottles, enamelled chains, and rare stones sourced from across the world. Bold in colour, meticulous in craft, and full of personality, the pieces show that Elizabethan jewellers, just like jewellers today, were global traders and master craftspeople. A gem-set floral brooch in particular helped shape our rose rings, while the garlands of enamelled floral chains inspired our pendant designs. The Hoard was one of our most important sources of inspiration for the Elizabeth Collection and is held at the London Museum. To learn more about it visit the London Museum website.
